High Street toilet block

There really is no end to the glamour of a local councillor’s life. In January I was dealing with a sewage flood on Nantwich Road, now its the old toilet block on the High Street in Tarporley. This building has been standing empty and unloved for some considerable time now and this seems so unfair when we are all trying to get our villages ready for the Best Kept Village competition (or just for spring and our pride in the area!) Places like this can all too easily become magnets for anti-social behaviour, drug-taking or vermin

I have written to the Chief Executive of Cheshire West and Chester Council supporting the request from Tarporley Parish Council that the Parish Council should be able to use the building to store things like street cleaning materials and equipment and flower watering kit. I argued that the Parish Council should pay only a nominal rent for a long lease and in exchange they would repair the building, clean up area around and maintain it in a good condition. It seems like a win-win situation to me.
